The IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Programme is a two-year integrated high-school diploma for students aged 16–19, built on six subject groups. Every student takes six subjects at Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL); together with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS they form a diploma score out of 45. At Studrise we offer one-on-one online tutoring in 7 IB subjects — mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, English and Turkish.
The IB diploma is recognised by universities worldwide, and selective programs in the UK, Europe and North America in particular expect specific grades in HL subjects. Each subject has its own assessment structure — external exam papers plus an Internal Assessment (IA) — so the right subject and level choices, steady work and step-by-step IA planning are what decide the diploma score.

Every IB subject has its own exam, but assessment shares a common structure:
Paper 1, 2 (and 3 at HL) depending on the subject · about 70–80% of the subject grade
Student-designed investigation, experiment or oral work · about 20–30% of the grade
Same core topics · HL adds depth, extra topics and longer exams
Two sessions a year: May and November · courses run across two years
Each IB subject is graded 1–7, where 7 is the highest and 4 is generally treated as a pass. Up to 3 bonus points from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay are added to the six subject grades; the diploma requires at least 24 points overall plus certain minimum conditions. Selective universities typically look for a total of 36–42 and a 6–7 in HL subjects; UK offers are usually expressed in HL grades. A 6 or above in the HL subjects your target university asks for therefore matters as much as the overall diploma score.
Because the IB runs across two years, preparation is a steady rhythm rather than a sprint: topics build on one another and IAs are submitted during the school year. One-on-one lessons are used to close topics that fell behind the school pace, make the SL/HL decision correctly, plan the IA from topic choice to submission and lift the grade with past papers before the exams. For students supported in several subjects, the weekly schedule is balanced across subjects; in the free level assessment we decide together which subjects to work on and how intensively.
