What is the SAT Math exam?

SAT Math is one of the two main sections of the Digital SAT and is scored on a 200–800 scale. It covers algebra, advanced math, problem solving, data analysis and geometry-trigonometry; questions test both conceptual understanding and speed with accuracy.

The section is built from two adaptive modules and a calculator is allowed throughout. For many students Math is the section where points are gained fastest, with the right strategy and consistent practice.

Scoring and target scores

SAT Math is scored 200–800 and makes up half of the total SAT score. Scores of 700 and above are competitive, and 750+ is strong for engineering and quantitative programs. Since wrong answers carry no penalty, every question should be answered.

SAT Math preparation can produce a clear score gain within a few months for students with a solid maths foundation. The study plan focuses on closing topic gaps and reducing frequent careless mistakes. Regular practice tests build the right balance of speed and accuracy.
