Turn your study-abroad goal into a personal roadmap
A strong university application abroad is shaped by decisions made throughout the high-school years. We assess where the student stands today and where they want to go, then follow their academic progress, work and evolving goals in regular one-on-one sessions.
What is Study Abroad Coaching?
A strong application for university abroad is shaped by decisions made throughout the high-school years. The student needs to know their interests, connect academic choices to their goals, prepare for the required exams and pursue work that is meaningful to them.
In Studrise Study Abroad Coaching we assess together where the student stands today and the goal they want to reach. We prepare a personal roadmap and follow their academic progress, their work and their evolving goals in regular one-on-one sessions.
The coach doesn't teach lessons; they look at how the student studies, where the time goes and where they get stuck, and build the plan around that. Parents receive regular progress summaries; key decisions (course choices, exam dates, programme changes) are made together.
Who is it for?
Exploring country, programme and university
High-school students researching which country, programme or university is right for them.
Clear goal, unclear plan
Students whose goals are set but who don't know how to plan their school subjects, exams and extracurricular work.
Tying exam prep to the long-term goal
Students who want to run their SAT, IELTS, AP or IB preparation alongside their long-term university goals.
Carrying their work into the application
Students who want a plan that carries the academic and personal work of their high-school years into application season.
What does it cover?
Not every student needs to work in every area. We choose together, based on the student's interests, the expectations of the target programmes, the school workload and the time they can spare.
Career discovery and goal setting
We explore the student's interests, strengths and expectations for the future. Findings from the Career Discovery Programme are discussed in sessions to shape questions about programmes and professions, and we plan how the student gets to know those options through courses, conversations and experiences.
Academic planning and exam strategy
We track school subjects, course choices and academic goals. We time SAT, IELTS, AP or IB work according to the goals and weigh the preparation against school performance and other responsibilities.
Progress and performance tracking
In weekly sessions we review progress on agreed tasks, the study routine, time management and the difficulties encountered. Progress is judged not only by exam results but by completed work and the habits gained.
Summer and winter schools
We research programmes that match the areas the student wants to explore, weighing their content, dates, conditions and place in the current plan to pick meaningful options.
Olympiads and competitions
We look at olympiads, academic competitions and other opportunities that fit the student's interests and level of preparation. The decision to take part rests on the desire to learn and a sustainable workload, not only on what it adds to the file.
Research projects
We support the student in forming a question on a topic they are curious about, researching sources and planning the work. Where suitable, research programmes, mentoring and project presentations join the roadmap.
Internships and field experience
We look for internships, shadowing or related experiences that let the student get close to the fields they are considering, making sure they fit the student's age, preparation and the questions they want answered.
Social responsibility projects
We evaluate work where the student can contribute regularly to a cause they care about. The aim isn't to have attended an event, but to build a process in which they take responsibility and learn from the experience.
Art portfolio work
For students drawn to art, design or architecture we plan the production process and the regular assembly of their work, tying portfolio preparation to the expectations of the target programmes.
How it works
1. We get to know the student and their goals
We assess the student's academic standing, interests, strengths, areas of curiosity and room for growth together. Where needed we use the assessments of the Studrise Career Discovery Programme: the student completes them individually and we discuss the results alongside their own experiences in the next session.
2. We build the personal roadmap
We research target countries, programmes and universities. Taking their academic requirements and the time ahead into account, we plan school subjects, exam preparation and extracurricular work. The roadmap lists not just what to do, but which work to focus on, why and when.
3. We track progress and performance
In regular one-on-one coaching sessions we review weekly goals, school performance, exam work and completed tasks. When a piece of work doesn't deliver the expected result or the goal changes, we update the plan. When needed, we share feedback on the student's progress with the family.
4. We connect the work to the application goal
We record the experiences gained in courses, projects and other activities over time. As application season approaches, the student has a body of work that lets them describe what they are interested in and how they have grown, with concrete examples. Preparing and running the university applications is planned separately under Application Consultancy.

What does the student gain?
The student builds a roadmap that connects their goals to their own interests and experiences. They know which work to prioritise, review their progress regularly and can choose new opportunities according to their goals. When application season arrives, they have concrete experiences with which to describe their academic and personal growth.
Assessments and the student profile report
The right plan starts with knowing the student well. With the assessments of the Studrise Career Discovery Programme we look beyond grades — at interests, personality, motivation and strengths.
- Career interests and programme–career fit
- Study habits and learning style
- Sources of motivation and personality traits
- Academic orientation, strengths and growth areas
The student profile report prepared after the assessments brings together suitable programme options, target-country and education-system suggestions, exam-prep recommendations and the academic development roadmap in one document. It is reviewed with the parent and forms the basis of the coaching plan.
The weekly plan and progress tracking
Coaching's visible output is a realistic study plan that is updated every week.
The plan covers school subjects, exam prep, homework, projects and rest together. Each weekly session asks three questions: How much of the plan was done? Where did you struggle? What changes next week?
- Mock-exam and grade tracking: the gap between the target score and the current level is measured.
- Time management: hours actually studied and how productive they were.
- Strategy changes: a method that isn't working isn't kept out of habit — the plan is updated.
Working with parents
Parents aren't spectators — they're partners in the decisions.
At the start, the goal and plan are discussed three ways (student, parent, coach). After that, parents receive a short progress summary at regular intervals: adherence to the plan, exam results, upcoming dates and pending decisions. For key steps — course choices, exam dates, programme changes — a joint meeting is held. The aim is to reduce the "did you study?" tension at home and tie responsibility to a measurable plan.
Academic preparation is part of the same plan
The coaching plan runs on the same calendar as the student's SAT, IELTS, AP and IB preparation; when needed, one-on-one lessons with expert teachers and Studrise AI Courses are added to the programme.
Stronger together
When academic preparation and application management run on the same calendar with the same team, the student reaches the goal with a stronger profile.
