IELTS (International English Language Testing System) measures English proficiency and is accepted worldwide by universities, immigration authorities and employers. It has two types — Academic and General Training — and university applications usually require the Academic module.
The test assesses four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Results are reported as band scores from 0 to 9 for each skill and as an overall average. The test can be taken on paper or computer; the Speaking section is a face-to-face interview in both formats.
Every lesson is taught by expert tutors who know the IELTS format inside out and focus on exam strategy.

IELTS has four sections and takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes in total:
4 recordings · 40 questions · about 30 minutes
3 passages · 40 questions · 60 minutes
2 tasks (Task 1 and Task 2) · 60 minutes
Face-to-face interview · 3 parts · 11–14 minutes
IELTS reports a band score from 0 to 9 for each skill, with the overall score as the average of the four. Most undergraduate and master's programs ask for an overall score of 6.0–7.0, and some departments set a minimum on individual skills. Band scores are generally accepted for two years.
IELTS is held frequently throughout the year, so the test date is flexible. Preparation time depends on your current English level and target band; for most students a focused 6–12 weeks is enough. Writing and Speaking improve fastest with individual feedback.
Listening: question types and note-taking techniques
Reading: skimming, scanning and time management
