What is the Bocconi Test exam?
The Bocconi Test is an online selection test used by Bocconi University in Italy during the application process for its undergraduate programs. The university offers this test as an option equivalent to international exams such as the SAT or ACT; an applicant may use one of these in their application.
The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and covers four subject areas: mathematics, reading comprehension, numerical reasoning and critical thinking. Because it is taken online, it can be sat on flexible dates within a defined application window. The Bocconi Test is an assessment tool for candidates applying to competitive programs such as economics, management and law.

Bocconi Test question types and strategy
Each question type has its own approach. In lessons we work on these strategies alongside the content.
Multiple choice with negative marking
Every section is multiple choice: +1 for a correct answer, −0.25 for a wrong one, 0 for a blank. 60 questions in 90 minutes, 1.5 minutes each.
−0.25 is a small penalty: if you can eliminate even one option, guess. Leave it blank only when you have no idea. The English section carries the most questions and the easiest marks; give it speed and give maths your care.
Live-proctored sitting from home
The test is fully online with live proctoring: ID and room check, camera and screen sharing on. Technical readiness is part of success.
Run the connection, camera and browser test the day before; use a quiet room and wired internet. Keep only permitted items on the desk; there is no calculator.
The SAT / ACT alternative
Bocconi also accepts a valid SAT or ACT score in place of the online test; many Turkish students apply with the SAT. Which route is stronger depends on the candidate.

Scoring and target scores
In the Bocconi Test a correct answer earns points and a wrong answer leads to a small deduction, so guessing on uncertain questions should be done carefully. The university uses an assessment system that makes the test result comparable with alternative results such as the SAT or ACT. Because places on programs are competitive, a strong outcome requires consistent performance across all four subject areas.

Preparation time depends on your current mathematics and English foundation; a planned course of study covering all four subject areas and focused on topic gaps is suitable for most students.

What is the Bocconi admission test and how much does it weigh?
The online test for Bocconi University's bachelor programmes in Milan; 55% of the admission decision.
The Bocconi Online Test is the live-proctored, at-home test taken by applicants to Bocconi University's bachelor programmes in economics, management, finance, international politics and data science. It has four sections: Mathematics (10 questions), Logical reasoning (10), Reading comprehension (10) and English (30); 60 questions in 90 minutes. Scoring is +1 for a correct answer, −0.25 for a wrong one, 0 for a blank.
The admission decision rests on two components: the test score at 55% and the GPA of the third-last and second-last school years at 45% (grades 10 and 11 in Turkey). Improving grades in grade 12 therefore does not change the decision; the test score is the one variable still open. Bocconi also accepts a valid SAT or ACT result in place of the test.
Applications run in several rounds a year: the first in the autumn and winter of the previous year, the last in spring. Earlier rounds have more places and are better for scholarship consideration. How to prepare for the Bocconi test: a 6–8 week plan
Four different skills in one sitting: the plan spreads time and attention by section weight.
- Diagnosis (week 1). A timed 90-minute mock; right/wrong/blank and time are mapped per section. Turkish students are usually strong in maths, variable in English grammar and reading speed, and new to logic sequences.
- English and reading (weeks 2–4). Two thirds of the test rests on language: one 1-on-1 lesson a week on grammar and vocabulary, 20 minutes a day of timed gap-fill and error-spotting, two passages with question sets a week.
- Maths and logic (weeks 2–5). One 1-on-1 lesson a week: topics flagged in the diagnosis first, then templates for sequence, syllogism and ordering puzzles. Calculator-free habits throughout.
- Full mocks (weeks 6–7). Two full mocks a week under live-proctoring conditions (camera on, quiet room). Net score (correct − 0.25·wrong) and time per section are tracked; the guessing policy (mark if one option is eliminated) is rehearsed.
- Test week. Technical check, error log, sleep and timing plan.
Six weeks at 5–7 hours a week is enough for most students; plan eight weeks if English is around B1. For candidates who already hold an SAT of 1400+, applying with the SAT is the shorter route; we decide that together in the first call.
