Source: IDP IELTS Türkiye — booking and fees. Payment is in TL, so there is no exchange-rate effect. The test fee is usually the smallest item in the total cost of preparing; a second attempt, a course or tutoring easily doubles or triples it, which is why planning to reach the target band at the first attempt is cheaper than resitting.
Extra fees: score reports, re-marking, cancellation
- Additional Test Report Forms (TRF): sending results to institutions; the first few are free within a set period after the test, later ones are charged. The number and fee are in the centre's tariff.
- Enquiry on Results (re-marking): requested within 6 weeks of results; the fee is refunded if the band goes up.
- Date change and cancellation: a deduction applies 5 weeks or more before the test; later requests get no refund except documented exceptions such as illness. Exact rates are in the centre's terms.
- One Skill Retake: offered in some countries for the computer-delivered test; confirm with the centre at booking whether it is available in Türkiye.
IELTS test dates: how often, where
| Format | Frequency | Booking closes | Results |
|---|---|---|---|
| Computer-delivered IELTS | Several days a week, multiple sessions a day | ~3 days before | 3–5 days |
| Paper-based IELTS | A few dates a month | ~1–2 weeks before (centre-dependent) | 13 days |
Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir have several centres and other large cities run regular sessions. Speaking can be scheduled the same day or a few days before/after. Current dates and centres: IDP Türkiye test dates. Popular dates fill up, so booking 3–4 weeks ahead is safe.
Which date should you pick?
Pick the date by counting back from the application deadline: leave at least 2–3 weeks after the test for results, TRF delivery and a possible enquiry on results. Put a second date in the calendar in case the first falls short; leave at least 4–6 weeks of focused work between attempts, otherwise the band rarely moves.
If you are 1.0 band or more below target, set the test 3–4 months out; a 0.5 gap closes with 6–8 weeks of targeted work. The IELTS tutoring programme starts with a level check in the free initial consultation, and we set the date together.
